The BMW Race Driver Series is proud to announce a significant multi-year tyre partnership with NEXEN Tyres and DTM Wheel & Tyre, heralding the start of an exciting and promising collaboration.

Under this agreement, the NEXEN SUR4G 225/45R17 will be the control tyre of choice for the BMW Race Driver Series E46 class, leading to the rebranding of the class as the NEXEN Tyre E46 class. This change highlights the importance of the alliance and the exceptional performance offered by NEXEN’s SUR4G tyres.
Notably, the NEXEN SUR4G also serves as the control tyre for both the Toyota 86 Championship and the Mazda Racing Series, further solidifying its reliability and outstanding performance.

Furthermore, DTM Wheel & Tyre has been appointed as the preferred dealership, catering to all wheel and tyre requirements for the series.
With a reputable standing in the automotive industry since its establishment in 1984, DTM Wheel & Tyre has been actively involved in importing and distributing automotive wheels and tyres to retailers across New Zealand. What began as a modest venture in Hamilton has grown into one of the country’s top three tyre and wheel distributors.
NEXEN Tyre Co., boasting an illustrious 80-year history, has consistently earned a distinguished reputation for excellence in the tyre industry. Founded in 1942, NEXEN has been a pioneer in innovation and technology.

The BMW Race Driver Series, founded by a group of passionate enthusiasts in 2006, is now entering its 18th season and has gained significant popularity over the years. The introduction of the E46 class by the BMW Car Club NZ, officially launched in the 2020-2021 season, has witnessed remarkable growth, with an estimated minimum of 25 cars expected to join the grid in the upcoming season. This progress underscores the series’ unwavering commitment to providing thrilling racing experiences to both participants and spectators alike.

As we gear up for the new season, we would like to address an important update regarding tyre availability. Due to the timing of the season, the NEXEN SUR4G 225/45R17 tyres will not be in stock prior to Round One. However, we are pleased to announce that competitors for Round One are permitted to use any 225/45R17 semi-slick DOT rated tyres that have a New Zealand warrantable tread pattern.

FOR CLARIFICATION: Tyres also marked “NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE” or “FOR RACING PURPOSES ONLY” are excluded from use.

Further information on the ordering process will be released in the coming weeks, and we kindly ask competitors to remain patient during this interim period. Once the stock becomes available, we can assure you that there will be plenty for all competitors.
The publication of regulations for all classes is scheduled for this upcoming weekend, coinciding with the opening of entries for the 2023-2024 season.
